The cult classic Prom Night is now available to stream on Netflix, and tons of horror fans are rewatching the slasher film. There are even new viewers watching it to see what it’s all about. It stars an amazing ensemble cast of actors and has an incredible soundtrack. In fact, you’ll probably recognize some of the songs played in the film.
Prom Night is a reboot of the Prom Night film series, which consists of five movies. It was released in theaters back in April 2008 and managed to gross $57.2 million worldwide with a movie budget of $20 million. Well-known movie and television director Nelson McCormick helmed the film from a screenplay written by J. S. Cardone. McCormick and Cardone later collaborated on the psychological thriller The Stepfather.
Based on the original film of the same name (1980), the horror flick follows a high school senior named Donna Keppel who tries to escape her former biology teacher turned stalker who is hell-bent on hunting her down on her prom night, murdering anyone who gets in his way.
Pitch Perfect‘s Brittany Snow plays the protagonist, Donna Keppel. The rest of the cast includes Scott Porter, Jessica Stroup, Dana Davis, Collins Pennie, Kelly Blatz, James Ransone, Idris Elba, and many others.
