Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, who both served as writers on The Office, often work together on projects and their latest one is co-creating docu-style comedy series, Jury Duty. Did they make the show for Netflix or another streamer?
The show, starring Dead to Me actor James Marsden as himself, certainly has an interesting and unique concept. The series takes us into a mock jury trial that everyone knows is fake except one person. And that would be solar contractor Ronald Gladden.
He is the only “real” juror, with the rest being actors, including the judge and bailiff. According to the synopsis, everything inside and outside the courtroom is “carefully planned.”
Sounds intriguing, right? I’m sure the premise has piqued your interest. So is the comedy a Netflix Original? We’ve got the answer for you below!
We’re sorry to say that if you were hoping the production was on Netflix, that’s not the case. Jury Duty is streaming exclusively on Amazon Freevee. The platform is the company’s free, ad-tier option, including shows, movies, and Freevee Originals. And this comedy show is one of them!
The series premiered on April 7, 2023, with weekly episode releases. The eight-episode season comes to an end on Friday, April 21. While it’s not Netflix, and you do have to sit through ads if you want to check out the show, at least you won’t have to pay anything to do it!
Joining Marsden and Gladden are actors Alan Barinholtz as Judge Alan, Susan Berger as Barbara, Cassandra Blair as Vanessa, David Brown as Todd, Kirk Fox as Pat, Ross Kimball as Ross, Pramode Kumar as Ravi, Trisha LaFache as Debra, Mekki Leeper as Noah, Brandon Loeser as Tim, Edy Modica as Jeannie, Rashida “Sheedz” Olayiwola as Bailiff Nikki, Kerry O’Neill as Christine, Whitney Rice as Jacquiline Hillgrove, Maria Russell as Inez, Ishmel Sahid as Lonnie, Ben Seaward as Trevor, Ron Song as Ken, and Evan Williams as Shaun.
Jury Duty is now streaming on Amazon Freevee. The finale is scheduled to release Friday, April 21, 2023.
