After Nelly sent music fans into a meltdown when he recently revealed in an interview he was back with Ashanti, she’s now honored him in the cutest way on the VMA red (or pink) carpet.
The music stars first started dating in 2003 and were together for almost a decade. Now, another decade later, Ashanti took to the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet to confirm in her own way that they’re giving the relationship another go, and fans are here for it.
Ashanti holds purse with Nelly photo at MTV VMAs
The Foolish singer stunned on the MTV VMAs red carpet in a floor-length sequin gold gown, with a front cut out. The bra cups were uniquely shaped like turtles, which honestly, would have gotten so much attention if it wasn’t for her adorable purse.
At the front of the purse, the singer proudly showed off a throwback photo of herself and Nelly from when they first dated, as they give their relationship another go.
Of course, this promoted thousands of questions, and the 42-year-old wasn’t shying away from speaking about her boo.
Speaking to PEOPLE on the carpet, the Baby singer, who presented an award at the show, said: “We’re in a great space, everything is positive, having a lot of fun.”
Of course, they had to ask if we’re going to get another collab from the two, after their 2008 smash hit, Body on Me.
The star didn’t confirm or deny, and just gave an elusive “maybe”. We’ve got our fingers (and toes) crossed.
Nelly confirms reconciliation with Ashanti
Shortly before Ashant’s cute gesture, Nelly made the announcement on the Boss Moves with Rasheeda podcast.
“We cool again,” he told Rasheeda and Kirk in the interview, which has been going viral on Instagram.
“I think it surprised both of us, It wasn’t anything that was planned,” he confessed.
“We were both pretty much doing what we do, but sometimes being separate, you understand one another more.”
The Hot in Herre singer also revealed that the relationship with Ashanti “feels good now” because there’s “no pressure”.
“Before I felt like both of us are doing what we’re doing before career-wise, And when you got so many people in the middle of it, it can be tough,” the 48-year-old concluded.
Fans are over the moon
After months of rumors, fans of the couple were over the moon to finally get confirmation from the two, as they rushed to social media to express their happiness.
“You see the way he’s showing ALL his teeth. He’s SPRUNGGGGGG,” penned one.
“I truly love to see a man grow up and do the work on himself externally and internally and go get the woman he truly loves,” wrote another happy fan.
Another, who noticed his cheesy grin, wrote: “The cheese is cheesing honey!!! He hasn’t stopped smiling since Rasheeda brought it up. He’s so happy they’re back together.”
“If you don’t show them teeth when my name is mentioned you’re not for me,” joked another. Relationship goals!
