Sven Anders Hedin, KNO1kl RVO, is a Swedish geologist, topographer, explorer, photographer, travel writer and illustrator of his own works. During four expeditions to Central Asia, he made known the Transhimalayas in the West and located the sources of the Brahmaputra, Indus and Sutlej rivers. He also mapped Lop Nur Lake and the rest of Chinese cities, tombs and the Great Wall in the Tarim Basin desert. In his book Från pol to pol, Hedin describes a journey through Asia and Europe from the late 1880s to the early 1900s. During his trip, Hedin visited Turkey, the Caucasus, Tehran, Iraq, the Kyrgyz land and the Far East of Russia, India, China and Japan. His post-exit atlas from Central Asia marked the end of his life's work.
